Ha! Actually, Tex named Ajax, without having read this book.
I asked my aunt if the creature's name really had been Ajax, or if the picked the name just for the book because of the symbolism (Ajax the warrior whom Hera drove temporarily insane, so that he slaughtered an entire herd of cattle thinking they were enemy invaders).
She blinked and said that it was his actual name, and she figured she'd probably just named him after the cleanser.
